What is Functional Nutrition?

Nutrition, diet, and lifestyle changes are things we all hear about practically every day, but what does that mean? To many, basic nutrition facts reason that if you do A, B, and C to get results 1, 2, and 3.  That's it.
A functional approach to nutrition goes beyond the cookie cutter ideology and recognizes that no two people are the same. It doesn’t just look at how things “should” work, but instead, how each unique individual is or is not working, and asks why that is. Then we begin to see what steps are needed to restore and improve the body's function to its fullest. Everyone is unique, there is not a one-size-fits-all protocol. While one individual may need to do A, C, and Z to get to 1, 2, 3, while another may need B, G, and T. Thinking functionally is the way to lasting root-cause resolution.

What I do?​

I see individuals as INDIVIDUALS! All too often in our medical world today, when a health problem arises, we receive a diagnosis (if we're lucky), and the protocol care that comes with it. If that doesn't work, you may have a protocol "B" plan to try, and if that doesn't work, you are just out of luck.

There is a gap in the healthcare model and a gap in client care. I am here to fill it! I do not have all the answers, but I do have the tools help you find the answers you need to figure out your life's puzzle and how to put the pieces back together. 

I want to ditch the "one size fits all" protocols and help you to get back in the driver seat of your health and not the other way around. 

It will be a journey, but together, we can do it!

I am here to walk with you, hear your story, and do the detective work, to help you on your ENDEAVOR.

How I do it?

I have been trained as a Certified Functional Nutrition Counselor through Andrea Nakayama's Functional Nutrition Alliance. I am trained in the A.R.T. and skills of practicing functionally to Assess, Recommend, and Track what is going on inside of you!​

We will tap into the power of nutrition and lifestyle to heal your body from the inside out! This is where we truly break "protocol" because I am not just telling you to eat your vegetables and go for a walk. I am here to hear your story, map your signs and symptoms, and help you learn how to listen to your unique body and create a functional plan to address and heal your body from the roots up.

Why it matters?​

When we understand what is going on in there, and we begin to uncover why is it is happening, we can address how to heal. 

Think of it like a river or stream. If there is a problem with the water downstream, you have two options: you can treat the water as it comes to you down the stream OR you back it up and resolve the upstream issues causing the downstream problems and address it there. Which do you think is more effective?

Sounds like a no-brainer, right? Yet so many spend a lifetime chasing symptoms downstream, and they miss the opportunity to uncover what caused those symptoms in the first place. and even worse, they miss the opportunity to actually improve their condition.​
